Cultural Etiquette

South Africa's cultural diversity is genuine; a little awareness goes a long way.

Culture

South Africa has 11 official languages and a wide range of cultural traditions; English is widely spoken in tourism, but a greeting in a local language is always appreciated.

For Muslim and Arab travelers, halal dining and prayer facilities are well established in Durban and increasingly available across Cape Town and Johannesburg; our consultants build this into itinerary planning as standard, not as a special request.

When visiting townships or cultural sites, we work with local guides and ask travelers to follow their lead on photography and interaction, out of respect for the communities being visited.
